These are great times indeed! Not only is the sun shining (at least where I am) but I have new records from SOAD, Seether and now Audioslave (go ahead and wait until it appears in your store next week if you can...) and my new 60GB iPod is scheduled to arrive before the weekend!

All who likes classic and recently reunioned the Pixies might be interested to know that frontman Frank Black's latest record, Honeycomb, appears to be available more than two months before its scheduled July 18 release.

OK, this is really old news by now but I hope I can get away with it as (a) this page wasn't up and running when the release was actually released and (b) there is still plenty of time before the official May 31st release of Don't Believe the Truth Oasis first album since 2002's Heathen Chemistry. Perhaps this is Oasis' returning to the glory of their first three albums? Listen and judge for your self.

Scheduled for a May 17th release, Mezmerize has been available everywhere since the beginning of last week. Mezmerize is the first installment of S.O.A.D:s double-feature Mezmerize/Hypnotize. The second CD (guess what it will be called?) is planed to be released later this year.

Since the early days of digital content being available online -- back when it was all about downloading 128 kbps MP3:s from popup infested websites containing at least one "Z" over excruciatingly slow 56 kbps modem (yes, it was slow even then) -- copyrighted material has been available on the Net before in the store. Such prereleases has become more and more common. In fact, prereleasing has become so common that legislative action specifically aimed at curbing such behaviour has been adopted.

There may be many reasons for making prereleases -- good and bad, valid and invalid -- but The Early Edition does not concern itself with those. The Early Edition neither condones nor condemns prereleasing. We simply accept it as a fact. Thus, the aim of The Early Edition is to inform the public when music is actually available.
